It's been little over a month from the last post and from the time of money well spent on PC hardware. After a good month from allowing the system to burn in the new gpu and the psu to deliver all that wonderful relief wattage to the starving components I can say it was well worth it. Though in last months post I mentioned how the psu was a cool factor in the system it was much more than meets the eye. What did it meet? It met stability along with consistency and it had wonderful mechanical symphonies to create pleasant experiences. The amount of audible noise from the psu is little to nothing. It delivers all its power where it's needed with no bumps along the road. Those quad twelve volt rails really do help keep things running smoothly. I would highly recommend anyone taking a second look into what's letting their system take its breath of life. For anyone interested in the high quality of the bunch you can look into PC Power and Cooling, Sea Sonic, and Corsair. Mid Range I'd recommend OCZ, Antec, and Silverstone. Low End Raidmax, Rosewill, and Apevia. All great manufacturers that make power supplies to fit the needs of the user. Granted that different systems working to process different needs will jump around different psu's. For example someone building a low cost Home Theater System would want a quiter powersupply so that the power supply does not overwhelm the wonderful sound system they just sold their first born to get. Next up the good 'ol graphics accelerator. Where would gamers be without old faithful? Quite possibly the reason why we drool and go gaga over our very beautifully rendered images. The 8800GS came out guns ablazing like Master Chief with an assault rifle on easy mode. Just cut through the masses like a hot butter knife on, well... butter! Note that my max resolution on my monitor is 1280x1024 but games still look as if it should be hung at an art gallery. Though I was testing out games that are years old they still push and tug at what I can give. Titles from '06 and '07 play on my 19" BENQ LCD display broadcasted by you guessed it, the 8800GS. Obviously given the age of these titles I am able to run the games at max settings to what my monitor can support and blissfully watch everything move along on pace. Next would be just how much better the 8 series chips from Nvidia work. I cannnot count how many times I wish I could break my games in half when they would crash to desktop or blue screen. This was not just the PSU and GPU upgrade since the 8600GT that came before I had even installed the new parts gave me the same results. Once again money well spent on hardware that will last me until the 260's and the 280's drop AGAIN to much more reasonable price. In other news the burning feeling in my wallet did not occur when purchasing GRID, but rather a SAMSUNG INSTINCT. This wonderful little tool of bliss has me wondering what cave I crawled out of. Everything about it feels so right and nothing about it makes me want to wash my hands twice from the feel of disgust. The phone is very media centered, while offering BASIC productivity support. The calender is much more fun to set up appointments as you feel like your playing "The Price Is Right" when spinning the number wheel. E-mail is great for POP3, IMAP, and common e-mail clients. Corporate accounts using server exchange forget about it. The software that's included to assist with the corporate email is a load of bull digestions. The e-mail attatchments support images and word/text documents which is nice, everything else forget about it. The GPS is the niftiest that has ever met the digits on my hand. Voice command with one touch turn by turn integration is just awesome. Camera is clear, user interface is responsive, battery life is out of this world. I can go on and on and on. My only dislike is the web browser, it's not iPhoneish. Versus the iPhone I am just jeleous of the software store and the "Remote" application for the iPhone to control your iTunes via Wi-Fi. Here's what's new though. If you haven't downloaded SPORE you should highly consider it. Where else can you make dancing penis creatures and get away with it being one eyed monsters? Customization is extremely high and there is just SOOOOO much creativity to parts and making things very animated. Go crazy! I know I did.
